Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit organization aiming to contribute to a better world through engineering, entrepreneurship and project competence. With approximately 1,000 members in Sweden they’re running and supporting projects based on engineering skills around the world, in cooperation with local organizations.
Engineers Without Borders gather engineers, architects, naturalists, educators, craftsmen, healthcare professionals, administrators and many others. They collaborate with technical universities, organizations and business. The goal is to find technical solutions adapted with respect for local skills, culture and values. For example. improving energy supply in rural areas by using solar technology, finding solutions for safer cooking, improving access to clean water and collecting laptops for schools. Particularly important for the organization’s volunteer project is to improve the lives of children by creating better school- and home environments. For example, a new roof was built for CCY Tanzania organization – an initiative that has improved the indoor environment and teaching significantly!
At home in Sweden different seminars are orginazed, inlcluding titles like “The Reflective Engineer”. The seminars highlight different aspects of the engeneering sector’s current challenge – creating a better world for all of us through technology.
