CCY stands for Caring from Childhood to Youth and is a grassroots organization that works primarily with orphans, children in need of special support and youth’s need for support and security. CCY works in Tanzania and Sweden. On-site in Tanzania, in the two cities of Matanana and Bumilayinga in the Iringa district, a day-care center and children’s home is run. The children’s home is seen as a big family where everyone helps in the household and everyone gets the love and attention a family can give. In Sweden, CCY is working to spread information about and raise funds for operations in Tanzania.
In 2014-2015 a primary school, the Liberty School of Tanzania, was built to provide the children in the area with access to qualitative education in the immediate area. The vision is to make the school an example for other schools where no discipline can be found and children learn to think about sustainable development and creative social solutions.
CCY works based on the principle that people living and living in a society are the best known to society challenges and have the best solutions for driving social development forward. All activities at CCY in Tanzania therefore take place on the terms of the local population – thus finding long-term solutions that best benefit the entire community.
